My Therapy

I started making pottery right before Covid hit, so I was able to pretty much sail through the isolations of the time by enjoying my home pottery set-up, practicing my art and watching a lot of YouTube videos. What a gift that was!

Now, having moved to Talking Rock, Georgia 2+ years ago, pottery has continued to be good therapy. I’ve discovered that moving in my 60’s to a new place and starting from scratch making friends is not always the easiest task. We love our new place, and my sweet husband has done all he can to make my “hobby” a pleasant reality. I can sit at my wheel and look out at our distant valley view. Yesterday I had the back door open so the outdoor cats and our dog got to enjoy free access to our basement…until one of the cats decided to try curtain climbing…

On rainy days, I can turn on the portable heater and a favorite tv show or podcast and get lost in my own little world down there. My husband has unfortunately learned that my “I’ll be done in 5 minutes” isn’t always very accurate…

So, yes, it’s therapy. It’s fun. It’s a creative outlet. It’s one of God’s sweet provisions to me in a new place, helping me to make new friends. I’m thankful!
