Spring Things

Spring is always one of my favorite seasons. Everything pops out in a parade of color and beauty. The wild flowers here spring up and surprise me all over again. The shades of green in our mountain view are many and varied. Even the surprise showers are welcome and refreshing.

There are so many things on our to-do list these days. The big garden we plant requires prep and planning and planting and weeding. The chicken coop and run need cleaning. The trails need tending–trimming and treating poison Ivy. My husband is out on the tractor, bush-hogging. Needless to say, pottery has taken a back seat for awhile.

So I’ve been collecting ideas (FB and Pinterest are a deadly rabbit trail to start in as far as pottery goes…). I’m excited about the new “leaf line” in my head. I started with some serving platters last fall–there will be more to come soon on the website! I have ideas inspired by the wild flowers and young leaves all around me. God has given us so many little miracles, if only we would have eyes to truly see.

At dinner with some friends last night, we talked about a favorite memory/time period as kids that we would like to revisit if we could. Later they sent me this quote: “It’s crazy how the days we took for granted are the ones we miss the most.”

I invite you this spring to take time from your busy days and really look. Take time to explore the beauty that is present even in one flower, leaf, or tree. Sit and savor time on your porch either alone or with a loved one. Talk about life and love and the past and the future. Let’s not waste this.
