Well, I’m back!
After a pretty major surgery on my right hand in January and lengthy immobility and rehab, I finally feel like my hand is nearly normal. I am forever grateful to my hand surgeon in Columbus, GA and for my family who helped me in the time when my right hand was incapacitated. It’s a humbling experience!
If I could choose one pottery piece that exemplifies my heart at this time of life, it would be this one. I call it Wavy Bowl in Blues and Purples, but it could also be called Thankful Heart, or It’s-Good-To-Have-Family-And-Friends, or Hooray For Hands! The shape is graceful and flowing. The colors are warm and comforting and happy. And I made it since my return to pottery after the 3 month hiatus.
I see in the ebbs and flows of the colors the way that life goes at this age. There are times of happiness and fun, and then the next moment I am surprised by the ache of a disappointment or sadness. But underneath it all, I see a constancy, a comfort, an encouragement that God is always with me, and that His purposes are throughout all that is happening.
Yes, joy. And comfort. And peace. May you see that flow in your own life, whatever phase you are in at the moment.
